Hurricane Bay Beach

Hurricane Bay Beach is a popular west shore beach.  No big parking lots here, just roadside parking which makes it easy for bringing stuff out from the car.  Beach or camping chairs are recommended, as the "sand" consists of small smooth rocks, not the powdered white sand you will find at Sand Harbor State Park on the east shore.  If you have a dog, this beach is "dog friendly" and has a designated section of beach for dogs and their families.  Located south of Tahoe City on the west shore, it gets shady in the early evening and is a great place to pull over and jump in the lake after a hike in the mountains or a trip on the nearby Rubicon Trail.  Restrooms and picnic tables also make it a great stop on the 72 mile drive around the Lake Tahoe.
