Chimney Beach

Just 2 1/2 miles south of Sand Harbor, you'll find the parking lot for the secluded Chimney Beach.  Parking is free, but fills up early in the summer months, so don't miss out by sleeping in.  The trail begins at the parking lot and meanders 1 mile down to the lakeshore.  We recommend using the restroom in the parking lot before you head down the trail, there are no services at the beach.  Bring a backpack with towels and provisions and remember to pack out what you pack in to keep Tahoe beautiful for others. This unique east shore beach is marked by a giant chimney surrounded by large boulders.  Many family portraits are taken flanking this landmark, and I'm sure you'll find it a perfect backdrop for your new Facebook or Instagram profile pic.

Just south of Chimney Beach you'll find Secret Harbor aka the "Nudie Beach".  This clothing optional beach is a popular destination for those wanting to remove all barriers to connecting with nature.  Keep the kids in the cove of Chimney Beach unless you want to have the "talk" on the 1 mile hike back to the car.
