Lake Tahoe Accommodations - Area Information

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe spans across two states – California is the western half, and Nevada is the eastern half. There are some casinos located on the Nevada side in the areas of Crystal Bay, Incline Village, and Stateline.  Other than that, there isn't a noticeable difference between the two states.  Both have mountains that tower over the crystal clear lake, with tall pines, and colorful aspens.  The natural beauty of Lake Tahoe is its biggest attraction.

North Lake Tahoe

The communities that encompass the north shores of Lake Tahoe start with Meeks Bay - California, and north and east through Tahoe City, to Incline Village - Nevada.   The eastern shore is primarily public land, made up of public beaches & trails that stretch from Sand Harbor State Park to the intersection of Hwy 50 and Hwy 28.  There are not very many vacation homes between Incline Village & Glenbrook on the eastern shore, but the beauty is immense, and recreation abounds.

North Lake Tahoe has many word-class ski resorts, including Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Northstar, and Diamond Peak.  The lake warms up in the summer months between June and September, and the beaches become a popular hang-out for locals & vacationers alike.

Lake Tahoe Accommodations offers a wide variety of vacation rental homes and condos in every area of North Lake Tahoe.  This includes Homewood, Sunnyside, Tahoe City, Tahoma, Dollar Point, Carnelian Bay, Crystal Bay, and Incline Village.  With so many choices, it won't be hard to find a great vacation rental for your next Lake Tahoe vacation!

South Lake Tahoe

The western shore of Lake Tahoe between Meeks Bay and Emerald Bay is much like the eastern shore south of Incline Village.  These areas are mostly public without much development, which means that there are not very many vacation rental properties until the Cascade Lake and Camp Richardson areas.  This southwestern area of Lake Tahoe is cast in natural beauty all year long.  Wildlife is plentiful, and it is not uncommon to see bald eagles around Emerald Bay, and black bears in the Taylor Creek area.

The city of South Lake Tahoe is the largest community in the Lake Tahoe basin, and offers all the amenities and shopping comparable to any mid-size city in the United States.  The county area surrounding the city is immense, and has many vacation properties that provide privacy and a feeling of remoteness, yet just a short drive to all the attractions in South Lake Tahoe.

Heavenly Ski Mountain is centrally located in South Lake Tahoe, and provides year-round activities from skiing, hiking, restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing rides on the famous Heavenly Square gondola.

The Tahoe Keys is another south shore attraction that offers affordable waterfront vacation rentals.  This community is built around a series of channels that lead out to Lake Tahoe, and each home usually comes with a private boat dock.  This is a very family friendly area, with bike trails nearby, tennis courts, and close access to Lake Tahoe's best beaches!
